I always get complements on my foundation and base make up so I thought I would share my travel base make up as this is what I pack when I'm not staying at home and reach for the most!
Everything I use is from the drugstore and I absolutely love all these products which is handy as I'm on a budget right now as I'm saving for many exciting things happening in the near future.
First off is foundation, concealer and powder. I have combination dry/oily skin and my face tends to be a disco ball by the end of the day no matter what products I use but I feel that these are pretty good for combating that for as long as possible. My favourite drug store foundation that I've tried is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and you will have heard me talk about this a million times if you read my blog regularly. I have mine in the shades 'Ivory' and 'True Ivory' as sometimes I like to be a little paler and others a little more tanned. This foundation is a medium to buildable coverage and creates a luminous but not oily finish and I love this foundation as it's only £9. Next up is concealer and I switch between two or sometimes use both at once. First is the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade '2 cool medium' which is the perfect shade for blemishes and under the eyes, this concealer is amazing and also very cheap and cheerful. The other concealer which I've used for quite a long time is the Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer in the shade medium which comes with 2 concealer shades and a translucent powder section to set it. I love this concealer and it's perfect for under the eyes and on blemishes as it has the two different shades. It's not that cheap for the drugstore as it is £10 but I find it lasts a very long time due to how little product you need. Lastly for base make up is powder and my holy grail powder is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder which I've used for many years. The only other powder I've tried in the last 2/3 years is the MAC MSF Natural in the shade Light Plus and I found it just didn't keep me matte for as long as this did and for a fraction of the price, it's pretty obvious which one I'm going to choose.
I've decided to include what brushes I use as I guess that's half the work, right? I use many real techniques brushes but I don't use any high end brushes and I find that these work perfectly. First I use the Zoeva 104 Buffer or the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for foundation and they both do the job well, it really just depends how much time I have as the expert face brush obviously takes longer as it's a lot smaller. Next for powder is the Real Techniques Powder Brush which is a recent purchase and I love this brush so much, it's so soft and dense which means it applies the product so well. For contour and bronzing I use this little angled brush I think I received in a little pack of 5 from Claire's as a gift and it's not the best brush but it works as it's nice and slim to contour with. For blush I use this W7 brush I bought on Fragrance Direct and is super soft and fluffy for only a couple of pounds. Lastly for brushes is the Real Techniques Contour Brush which I use for highlight as I find it's too ball shaped for contour but applies highlight on the high points of my face perfectly.
Last step in my routine is contour, blush and highlight where I use two Sleek palettes. First off is the Sleek Face Form Kit in the shade 'Medium' and the Blush By 3 in the shade 'Pumpkin' which has the blushes 'Lantern', 'Squash' and 'Pumpkin Pie' which are perfect all year round colours. These two palettes are £9.99 each and have lasted me almost a year and I haven't hit pan on either so great value for money and they have many different colours which is also a plus.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this little post on what base make up I travel with.
