I'm quite a big fan of liquid lipsticks although I've only ever found one which I can wear on it's own and not over a lipstick which is exciting but overall the whole concept of liquid lipstick intrigues me as I'm a matte lip kind of girl.
I have 5 liquid type lipsticks that all have different finishes which I'd like to share with you and tell you my favourites and least favourites.
I have applied lip balm and a lip liner to suit the shade before each one as I have very dry lips as well as not a very strong lip line so I never apply anything to my lips without lining them.
First off is Bourjois Rough Edition Velvet in the shade Hot Pepper which retails at £8.99. This product has a gel texture and takes a few applies and blots for it to be opaque and stay on but once you do that, it will last a good 4+ hours and stays well through eating and drinking. It doesn't crumble like most liquid lipsticks do as it is a gel formula which is a positive and why it's my favourite out of them all although I only just bought it.
Next up is Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in the shade Stellar which retails for £6.49 (applied over the same red lip liner) and is my favourite for wearing over super matte lipsticks to make them more comfortable to wear. It has quite a glossy finish but will dry down to a semi-matte finish and doesn't flake off either. Lasts very well through eating and drinking and perfect for freshening up matte lipstick if your lips are looking crusty.
My least favourite from the reds is the Topshop Lip Paint in the shade Fox which retails at £7 but they have repackaged this product and I'm unsure whether they still sell this colour. I dislike this as it doesn't fully dry and if I do wear it I only pat it on to make a matte lipstick more comfortable to wear but never as fully as it's shown in the picture above as it's very messy and glossy. It is also very thick which makes it gloopy and messy.
Next is the only coral colour I own which is the MUA Luxe lacquer in the shade Atomic which retails at £4 (worn over an orange lip liner by Gosh). I absolutely love the colour of this but it's not the nicest product to wear for a long period of time as it's very drying. For the price, it's a good product but I recommend wearing this over a lipstick as it's harsh on the lips.
Lastly is the Sleek Matte Me ultra smooth matte lip cream in the shade Fandango Purple which retails at £4.99 (worn over a purple lip liner). This is the most drying lip lacquer out of all 5 and I find is the hardest to wear as it is so drying but I bought it to see if I suited purple lipstick before I commit to something more expensive. I usually wear this over MAC Rebel which makes it less drying but ruins the colour as Rebel is a lot darker. I don't recommend this if you have extremely dry lips as I do but there is a great colour range.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed.
