First Time at Wagamama's & The Purge: Anarchy

So yesterday, Luke and I decided it was time to delve into the world of Wagamama hype and go for dinner.  We were thinking that the portions would be small as it's a Japanese restaurant so we decided to order more stuff than usual but we were wrong.  The main meals are very generous and the sides were the size of normal starters.

For mains I ordered the famous Chicken Katsu Curry which was breaded chicken and white sticky rice with what I can only describe as a normal curry sauce over the top.  Luke ordered the Yasai Chilli Men which is stir fried tofu, vegetables and noodles underneath and it was VERY spicy.

For sides we ordered Edamame which was super yummy and nice to cool your mouth down in between eating the main.  We also got Mushroom Onigiri which was for Luke as I'm not the biggest fan of mushroom but tasted not too bad.  Lastly for sides we got Yasai Gyoza which was steamed grilled vegetable dumplings and they were alright, wouldn't order them again as they weren't amazing but they weren't bad.

For desert I got the Coconut Mochi Ice Cream which was rice wrapped coconut ice cream with a passion fruit sauce underneath, the passion fruit sauce was too much for me but the ice cream was tasty.  Luke got the Chocolate Fudge Cake which was a huge slice with a side of ice cream, very rich but probably wouldn't order again.

The service at Wagamama's is different compared to most other restaurants as it's fast and rushed, the food comes when it's ready so you could be sitting eating your main while your company is still waiting.  I feel the table service is far too rushed and it made me very nervous to order my food.  Overall the staff were nice but the way they do things is not what I'm used to.  Also the communal seating is a little weird too but I can get over that.  They also don't do student discount which is annoying as ordering so many sides and stuff can get pricey and student discount of any form would have been nice.  Overall thoughts?  It was nice and I probably would go back if it was for lunch or take out and Luke thinks the same (as it's coming out of his bank account ahaha!).

After Wagamama's, we went to see The Purge: Anarchy which is the second movie to the purge but is not a sequel in any form.  The first movie is set in a house and the second is set in the streets of Los Angeles.  The second movie is definitely more jumpy and morbid as you see the action that's going on in the streets compared to just one families night and it's quite a step up from the gore in the first movie.  I'm surprised that this movie is a 15 as it is very graphic and if you're very faint hearted then you will find it very intense, even if you weren't bothered by the first movie.  Overall the movie was good, you knew roughly what was coming but it wasn't so bad that it ruined the movie at all.

Thank you for reading, apologies for no blog post yesterday but I decided instead of rushing one to get it up for yesterday I would just wait as I wanted to share my thoughts on Wagamama's.

  1. I was never really a fan of wagamama chicken katsu curry. If you and your boyfriend are ever in Glasgow city center then you should go to Ichiban it's next to Primark on Queen street. It's the best Japanese in Glasgow and the katsu curry is the best I've ever had and the fact they give you the option to have noodles (men) instead of rice makes it that much better. I recommend getting a Flora Tea with your dessert too. <3 xxxxxx
