Over the last 2 years I've been a huge fan of MAC lipsticks and I've come to love quite a few shades so I thought I would share my collection/thoughts/swatches of them.
I'm going to start from dark to light and there's nothing better to start with other than Film Noir which is a satin finish. This is a "I don't quite know what I was thinking when I bought this" type of lipstick. It was autumn and dark lips were the thing, I thought I was brave enough to wear it but I think it may be just that little bit too dark for me. The finish is also very patch as it is very dark and a satin finish, I think this lipstick would be better as a matte finish purely due to how dark it is.
Next up is Rebel which is also a satin finish and the only dark berry colours I own. Rebel is an unusual shade as it looks very dark in the bullet but comes out quite sheer, this has its pros and cons. I've not really worn this lipstick much either as I find it wears off so quickly due to the sheerness of it but it eaves a nice stain (if that's what you're going for!)
Diva was one of the first lipsticks I purchased and I wore it religiously when darker lipsticks were my first choice. The wear on this lipstick is very nice and it lasts a good few hours as it is a matte finish.
I'm unfortunately not a fan of this lipstick as it snapped after only a few uses. The Viva Glam Lipsticks are for a good cause and all the profit goes to AIDS. I thought the Viva Glam 1 lipstick would suit me most as all the colours are strange/bright pink and that's not my thing and it's a matte finish. I like the colour although this is a very fall lipstick for me.
I also bought Russian Red around the same time as Viva Glam 1 and this broke too, maybe they were sitting under something hot in the store? (hmmm....) but this is one of my favourite night time lipsticks as it's a classic red and a matte finish so I don't need to worry about it too much. Unfortunately it is a bit of a pain to wear as it's all mushy but I will definitely repurchase when it gets too mushy.
RiRi Woo is probably in my top 3 of favourite MAC lipsticks. It's my go to night time lipstick or if I'm in college all day (9am-9pm...needs a long wearing lipstick!) I usually pair it with a lip cream of some sort (Rimmel Apocalips or the Topshop lip creams) as it is a retro matte finish and it can get super drying if you have dry lips.
Another lipstick that is one of my top 3 is Dangerous which is also from the retro matte range (which I love!) This lipstick by it's self isn't the greatest as it can get all patch and flaky but paired with the Rimmel Apocalips in the shade Stellar, it's my every day lipstick.
So Chaud is another well loved lipstick and is very comparable to Lady Danger except it's a little more dulled down and orange toned. This is a matte finish which is perfect and I will be repurchasing this for the summer!
The famous Morange from MAC was hyped up on blogs and youtube last summer and I wanted to love it but...meh. I think the main issue with this lipstick is that it's an amplified finish which makes your lips look weird and fake. It doesn't blend into your lips but instead sits on top and makes your lips look weird. I love the colour of this lipstick (as you can tell orange is my favourite colour) but the finish lets it down completely.
Vegas Volt is another "what the hell was I thinking" lipstick as it's a very light coral/pink and I'm not a pink/light lipstick kind of girl. It's also an amplified finish and maybe I would get more wear out of it if it was a satin or matte finish but oh well. I like this colour for when I'm wearing very minimal make up.
Lastly, I have two de-potted lipsticks that I done myself with the help of Coleyyyful's Lipstick De-potting Video which helped a lot. First off is Media which was also a favourite and one of the first MAC lipsticks I bought. It's a satin finish and wears very nicely. I don't think I would repurchase purely cause I've outgrown it but I still think it's a lovely shade.
Lastly, my favourite lipstick of all time - Lady Danger. This lipstick is so bright and flattering I used it up within a month of two during last summer. Definitely repurchasing for the summer as I miss bright orange lips! Lady Danger is a matte finish and I think that's what makes this lipstick for me. It's the perfect mix of orange and red and is perfect for the warmer months.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed a little insight to my MAC lipstick collection.
